Our talks

We offer illustrated talks at venues across the Scottish Borders, East Lothian and Northumberland. Bridget loves to engage with local groups and her lecturing experience and passion for horticulture combine perfectly to deliver talks that are inspirational and packed with practical information. We are quite self-sufficient, with our own projector and portable screen. We just need a couple of electric sockets and of course, an enthusiastic audience! We offer the following three talks.

‘Blooms up the Brae’

A lavishly illustrated talk explaining the story behind BordersEcoFlowers and why we grow flowers on top of a windy hill! Suitable for all groups.

‘Grow your own Cut Flowers’

This presentation is aimed at horticultural and gardening groups, and draws on Bridget’s extensive practical experience growing with sustainable methods.

‘Floral styling - the sustainable way’

A discussion of floral mechanics - plastic (oasis) free methods to styling flowers. Suitable for flower arranging clubs and church groups.

why us?

Bridget is an experienced flower grower and florist, with a Certificate in Horticulture, and has appeared on BBC Beachgrove Garden. Her background in horticulture, science and education is combined with practical hands on experience working in local gardens. She is an enthusiastic speaker and has years of experience delivering talks to groups including gardening clubs, U3A groups, floral art clubs, senior citizens groups and Womens Institutes.

Tours

A tour of our cutting garden will take you behind the scenes where you’ll learn about the horticultural practises we use to grow a huge variety of plants in a challenging hilltop site.
