Flowers for Mother’s Day

Sunday 15th March 2026

Local flowers for local mothers! We believe that a floral gift should be strictly seasonal and that is why we create our Mothers Day Collection from those plants that are flowering in the garden at this time of year. So on these pages, you won’t find a rose, or a lily or a carnation. (They are summer flowers !) But you will find a selection of Spring beauties - beautiful bulbs, hellebores, flowering currant and lots of emerging foliage - Scottish natives like bright green hawthorn, beech and birch.

In our own garden, we are very keen to encourage biodiversity - providing lots of habitats and food supplies for all kinds of wee bugs and beasties. We want to spread the message that if you grow a variety of flowers in your garden, then your plot will become a gourmet restaurant for all types of interesting species. So with every order, we enclose a complimentary bunch of aconite tubers, all ready for planting in a shady corner. These cheery yellow woodland flowers are an absolute delight in late winter and on warm days, they open up so bees can feast on the pollen and nectar.

Choose from a “Muckle bunch o’ flooers”, a Mother’s Day Heart, a Spring Quartet, or our ever popular gift certificate. Or for the ultimate floral treat, why not bring your Mum up to The Moorhouse on Mother’s Day 30th March 2025 when Bridget will be holding a special workshop.

A muckle bunch o’ FLooers frae the gairden

That sums up this freshly picked bunch. We offer this popular Mother’s Day treat again in 2026. £35.

A spring QUARTET

Those of you who are avid listeners of Classic FM will no doubt have witnessed the musical delights of the string quartet - four players in perfect harmony. In the same vein, we bring you, not a string quartet but a spring quartet - four gorgeous seasonal posies combined together in a wee wooden crate. Each quartet is created from stems that are handpicked from our cutting garden. Contains four spring posies, each in a traditional honey jar, and combined together in a wooden crate.

Four honey jar posies, all in a wooden crate approx 35cm long £35

A Gift Certificate for a workshop at the moorhouse

There’s no doubt that the weather in March can be quite fickle. Indeed, we remember 2013. Throughout March, it was freezing cold here with tons and tons of snow. So it’s understandable if your Mother is not too keen on spending lots of time outdoors so early in the year. However, we thought that, come the warmer months, she might like to come up to The Moorhouse and actually cut some flowers herself. Even better, she could bring a friend along too. Your Mum just needs to tell us when she would like to come, (probably best from Maytime onwards.) £50 for two people to cut a bucket of flowers each.

PLEASE COMPLETE THE FORM BELOW TO ORDER Mother’s day GIFTS

We include a complimentary bunch of fresh aconite tubers with every order!

We regret that we cannot send flowers by post or deliver to other areas of the U.K. Please note that our floral designs are individually created, so they may vary from the images shown.
